Looks okay. I don't think I like the flop bet /images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

He's getting 12:1 on a gutshot there, and he's closing the action

in MP1? what would be the normal threshold for raising with 88 or 77 essentially being the first to act(behind teh poster)

I would have bet the river, thinking MP2 might fear the four-straight on the board, with three opponents seeing the river with him.

But, given your relative position to MP2, a checkraise could be pretty profitable if it works.

Also, I have this disclaimer: I strongly suspect that I don't checkraise the river enough.

Maybe Im a pussy but I dont think Ive ever raised with 77-88 in MP1. Maybe I should, if someone has excellent post flop skills I guess I could see this happening for sure. But anyway, Ive only raised these hands in later position.

I like raising with 77 pre-flop from any position. It usually makes the hand easier to play.

As in if anybody shows aggression against u then u are probably beat?

Just curious, I know if someone has a 9 with a good kicker they would probably call u down, at least. Just curious how you;d play this post flop if u raise preflop.

The flop bet is perfect in this position, hoping to get a raise from PF raiser to knock-out others, and you have to slow down on the turn after almost everyone stays in. I would see the river too since there are so many in the pot. To me, the big question is whether or not to check-raise the river. I would bet, because I am a huge wuss when it comes to check-raising the river. I think an argument for betting can be made in that, if you are going to split the pot with BB or someone in LP, you might be able to capture more bets in between by betting out.

By raising 77 PF, I'm hoping to eliminate people with a 9 in their hand. It also gives you equity when a loose caller makes a high pair like 9 and a scare card hits the turn. I often end up folding 77 after the flop, but I think it's still a good play over-all to raise it unless the table is very loose.
