How do you want to die?

I read the book "Perfect Storm" and they detail drowning. It sounds like the worst death possible.

i don't ever want to die. i thought i was dying once, it was the most horrifying experience ever. i can't think of a "good way" to go other than old age, and even that is scary.

falling out of an airplane would be nice and painless, scary, but one last rush...

this may sound sick, but i've always thought if i was going to be killed, i'd like to get shot in the heart. just enough time to realize what happend, not too much suffering, and you'd be concious as the lights went out.

This one is obviously a very nice option. Why would you be uncomfortable with it? You wouldn't know what hit you, and it's painless.

This thread, making me think about death, is very scary. I mean, when you've been gone a thousand years, you'll only have been dead for an infinitely small time of the universe. I am extremely uncomfortable not knowing answers, or even if there are any. I guess this is one of the appeals of religion; facilitating comfort in passing away. The more I think about this the more terribly scary it all is.

This is untrue. I just read Perfect Storm and they detail it as the most horrible thing imaginable. I will detail it from memory:

You are likely trapped in an unclosed space underwater. You are holding your breath, since you don't want to breathe water. After about 1.5-2 minutes, the carbon dioxide fills your brain and triggers you to breathe. You breathe in the water, and that suffocates your lungs, draining your blood system. Does that sound fun?

I've heard that breathing in water is very painful. Also, I can't see it being very peaceful. I know for a fact that I would be panicing like a mofo. Freezing, on the other hand, is supposedly a pleasant way to go.

seriously, I have no problem with drowning. maybe getting blasted by a great white (as long as it's pretty instantaneous). i willingly put myself into the ocean while fishing, diving and surfing, so I shouldn't have any qualms with any possible end effects of my hobbies.

I almost died twice when I was in elementary school. At a certain point all pain ceases and you blackout. Nothing to worry about.

The only thing I would care about is a slow painful death from some illness. In that case I'll hop a one-way flight to Vegas and get a room with a Strip view with a hot tub.
Pop mass quantities of sleeping pills and wash them down with some good champagne.

Seriously, I don't know. I think I'd like to die in some manner where I was able to know I was dying and accept it. Terminal illness or whatnot. I don't know how frightened I will be to die. I hope not too much...

Firstly, two great suggestions, BUT...

I'd much rather be thrown from an airplane, or even jump, rather than fall from one. Falling would just be too embarassing on the way down.
