Party 22

What do you think of this hand? With two callers and then a big raise that was called on the turn I felt I had to get away from it. I am assuming trips or worse but I never found out. Maybe he called with 57 suited?

Was this play too weak?

You dont want to go near broke against the other 2 big stacks here. There are plenty of limping hands on this level that beat you - a set, suited connectors 86, 64, 75 and maybe even something like Q8 or an overpair depending on the players. Youre still favorite to finish ITM, so I think you made a good fold.

Yes, I think this is pretty weak. A lot of people are going to call you there with KQ or QJ; after you check the turn, especially since you limped preflop and nobody is going to give you credit for AQ here, it doesn't surprise me that somebody is going to try and take it away. The bet on the turn getting a caller is scary, but it's hard to say what he might be calling with.

I think I play this hand somewhat differently. You have enough chips that you can afford to raise this preflop. Make it 100 to go. Betting the flop is good, though I tend to prefer something slightly smaller than pot sized. I would fire again on the turn. Now if there's a raise and a caller after that, I start to get worried and will consider laying down. But I don't think there's anyway that somebody has put you on AQ and is raising into you feeling they need to beat that, because you just haven't played in a manner that represents AQ.

Given the way that you played it, I think that the flop bet then the check/fold on the turn is fine. Two calls on the flop, then the strong bet and the call on the turn is very strong evidence that a single pair isn't going to win a showdown this hand. Yes, theres a good chance you are laying down the best hand on the turn, but its also very likely you are beat. Don't mess with it.

I would have raised pf just to narrow down the field
