View Full Version : Table Selection Question....

Since I've moved up to 3/6, I've taken ALOT more time (and $) into finding a good table. Now, I have my own tricks for finding good tables (i've built a HUGE buddy list), but I find myself sitting at anywhere from 7-10 tables before I find four good tables. However, I find that I am sacrificing between $10-$20/session in just finding good tables. However, since I've been concentrating on table selection, my BB/100 has gone up.

In an hour of 4 tabling, I probably have sat at 12-15 tables or so.

I buddylist everyone with 40-50+% VPIP as long as they're obviously bad. As long as I keep adding to the list, I can usually find 2 or 3 good tables right away every time.

First, I open my FishList.txt file that has over 1000k players with VP$IP > 45. I search for those guys and join the waiting list at their table unless they're low on cash or there's too many tighties. Usually, I get four good tables that way.

If I run out of buddies, then I do the join first available thing, but check out the players before I sit down. If it's a decent table, I sit, if not, I wait a minute and try again. Usually I get a decent table within four or five tries.

In the afternoons, it takes me between 10 and 30 minutes to find four good tables. In the evenings, 5-10 minutes.

Oops. I meant 1,000 players. Not 1,000,000. The K was a typo. Sorry.

*bump* cause this is a good thread.

When trying to find good tables, do you guys post the blinds and just play an orbit or two? Do you just watch what's going on? If you do play do you play tighter than normal till you find good tables?

I load up PV and if I've got a 2+ live ones I post. Otherwise, I sit an orbit.

PokerEdge and a bit of short handed play can do wonders for table selection.

I sit at any table I can get on > 40 avg. pot, load up gametime as soon as possible after posting and see if there is one fish to my direct right or two fish within 4 seats. It also helps to have a few weak-tight players that won't get cute with re-isolations to my left. Sometimes I'll play without great position, but only if the overall crappiness of the table warrants it. I will never leave a table if i have a maniac within a few seats to my right.

I don't table hop too much and probably avg. 6-7 tables in that first hour, but i only like to three-table.

What level are you at?

Wanna sell your list?

Seriously.

You realize this is 1,000 players, not 1,000,000, right? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

These players are at the $3/6 level. Out of the ~1,300 players, I'd say about 30-40 of them are signed on at any given time, with more in the evenings (EST).

If you're still interested, send me a PM.
