So I have this book called Passing Time in the Loo, which, just like it sounds, is a book full of good bathroom reading. In it is a condensed version of a book called What They Don't Teach You at Harvard Business School.

Part of the book deals with reading people and gives 7 steps to reading people. The 7 steps are:

-Listen aggressively
-Observe aggressively
-Talk less
-Take a second look at first impressions
-Take time to use what you have learned
-Be discreet
-Be detached

I think that a lot of these points can not only be used in the board room, but also be effectively used at the poker table when getting reads on people.

If anyone's read the original book, feel free to elaborate or give more insight, otherwise, I'll leave this open to discussion.

For the two points that you disagree on, while against regular small stakes players, I think that it doesn't matter how much information you give away, but don't you think that against better competition, it's a better idea to be discreet in order to give away less information?

As for being detached, don't you think that it's important to be less emotionally attached to the game in order to avoid tilt?
