Do you frequently make strategy changes based on chat?
I'm specifically wondering about situations on the bubble when an opponent starts lecturing or insulting you because you are frequently pushing.

Sometimes when you get heads-up, an opponent will compliment your play during the tournament. Do you change how you play here?

It seems like there ought to be ways to take advantage of these situations, but I can talk myself into thinking that opposite ideas are both plausible, so I was hoping to get a little input.

Thanks.

I recently felt bad because someone complained that I was taking their blinds. So stupid me gave them a break one time...of course I go from chip leader with 6 left to busting out in 4th place (the guy complaining made the money).

I am NOT going to do that again. I'll save being nice for my friends not my poker competition.

That sucks though. I think he means to ABUSE the situation though, not give them a break. I don't know how you could really take advantage much. I would think you should be aware that you might have a better chance of getting called by someone that is annoyed with your pushes. This could go either way, depending on what you have to push with. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think the one place that this can make a difference (at the $10 level where these things happen), is if someone makes a complete bonehead play and sucks out. If the loser hangs around and calls him a XXXXing moron for a while, he'll often tighten up, just to prove he's not a XXXXing moron. You can push this guy off a ton of hands.

The_Program: how'd that bluff work again
The_Program: ?

Let me add that I don't usually do this and there's a whole other story involved on how I think he was colluding with pleaseload since they were dumping chips to each other. Also might I also include their Poker Prophecy stats which are VERY weird for 2 players single-tabling the 55's at the same time and sitting next to each other. They might just both be idiots so my whole "theory" between the 2 of them could be nothing.
