Sheesh, great job(despite the tiny fields) by one of poker's classiest guys, but talk about bad timing: If Vince had got on this heater two weeks earlier he'd've made over $600K more, or two months later=$OGKHM.

I say good for Vince. And if I see him tomorrow or Monday at the Plaza, I'll tell him so. I like him. Believe it or not, someone is paying attention to the Plaza results, as disappointing as they are.

For whatever it's worth, I heard that deals were made in at least 2 of these events, if not 3. The structure is fantastic, I can't believe it's so good. Rocks and patient players are being well rewarded.

I'll be happy to make a deal with Vince if we get HU in the HORSE tourney on Monday (I'm dreaming a little bit here). I would love for my last, little hurrah in poker (before starting chemo and being a shut-in) to be a success!

Big buyins. I mentioned the small fields in MOP. Some luster off as well if deals were made, but still very impressive feat by a great guy.

I played *a lot* of poker while undergoing chemo (for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma) I found I was ill for about two days after treatment, and then I was just fine. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I just finished a month ago, and I am doing great. So, good luck to you, and you may yet get to play. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wow, you went through a toughie. Non-Hodgkin's is so serious. My brother had Hodgkin's. Did you catch it early? How do you feel? Are you in total remission?

I know that one of the effects of chemo is that it can supress your immune system. During my first cycle they gave me regular blood tests, like every two days, and during the middle of the cycle my white blood cells got low enough that they told me to stay away from crowds and such (including casinos I assume). However, during subsequent cycles they gave me a drug called Neulasta. It stimulates white blood cell production and this problem didn't reoccur.

Maybe your doctor is just being conservative, and maybe your chemo is different, I don't really know.

Unfortunately, I was misdiagnosed with asthma for several months after I first started showing symptoms. So by the time they caught it it was fairly advanced. I had stage IV disease, a giant tumor nearly the size of a VHS tape in my chest, and four other tumors in my abdomen.

Fortunately, the chemo worked wonderfully, and eliminated all the cancer except for a fairly small bit in my chest, that they are currently treating with radiation (which I started two days ago). They are hopeful this will put in complete remission and then its just a matter of hoping it doesn't come back. I feel great, and have had no symptoms after the first cycle of chemo back in late December. Before that I was a mess, and could barely breathe due to the pressure the tumor was placing on my heart and lungs.

As for how I know you, we've never met but I've read your blog and really enjoy it. I'd been meaning to drop you line at some point, especially when you started writing about fighting with cancer, since we seem to have an awful lot in common.

Vince wasn't playing at the Plaza yesterday. I suppose he is at one of the bigger venues.

I did manage 5th in HORSE, for whatever that is worth. Before you get too excited, there were only 15 participants, lol.

Great morale victory for me, though, and a good "last hurrah," which is exactly what I was looking for.
