Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (9 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

UTG+1 is LA-P. MP1 is TA-A. MP3 is LP-A. It was a good (loose aggressive) table.

Preflop: SamIAm is BB with 6/images/graemlins/club.gif, 6/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, SamIAm calls, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 3-bets</font>, MP1 calls, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 caps</font>, SamIAm folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (14.40 SB) 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif, T/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 2/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 caps</font>, MP1 calls, MP3 calls.

Turn: (13.20 BB) Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, MP1 folds, MP3 calls.

River: (15.20 BB) J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, MP3 calls.

Final Pot: 17.20 BB

Results:
UTG+1 has Jc Jh (three of a kind, jacks).
MP3 has As Ac (one pair, aces).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins 17.20 BB.

Do you think I should have called the cap preflop? I mean, clearly I shouldn't, because the J came on the river. Duh. But in case you DON'T know the river, I guess you need to make some assumptions about the value of a set, vs the chances of getting one at all. Is it worth 2:14?

This preflop fold is bad. Unless you knew you would lose to a rivered overset, in which case you should fold the first time around.

Pattern Mappers are great aren't they?. I think you have to call that PF, your implied odds are huge. It looks like its gonna be a massive pot, which if you hit it big then you'll take down some nice cheese

At 7:1, you practically have set value in the call itself. You do run the risk of being against a couple of overpairs a decent portion of the time, which will make set-over-set approx 20% of the time (???). Still, they like their hands and will pay you well when you make your set. Folding a pocket pair after putting in two bets preflop is pretty much always going to be a mistake. It is a big one here.

Heh, the inital preflop call is borderline.

The fold when it comes back two more to you is VERY bad.

Do you mean protecting my blind was bad but folding to the cap was worse? If the answer to that question is "yes", then my next question is "Are you crazy?" /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think you guys are right. The implied odds make the cap-call pretty clear. Must have been a higher power protecting me from that river, clouding my eyes so that I might see.

Folding any of the two decisions preflop is terrible. How can you possibly contemplate folding the first time?
