I hate betting before the river because getting raised before then sucks.

I lead out for 45-50 here. I think this looks like you are trying to buy the pot on a scary flop and you'll likely get called with a smaller pocket pair or even a hand like KQ. Against an aggressive player I might go for a check raise if I think I can get more money in the pot that way.

Can I really expect to put out an effective blocking bet on Party stacks though? Even on full stacks its tough to get to the river cheap enough and in this case Villain has 635 to start.
