I'm curious how others would have played this hand.

5 people left. 1st wins WSOP entry package, 2nd and 3rd play step 6 again, 4th goes to step 5, 5th goes to step 4.

I have 1800 in chips. 1 guy has 1000 in chips. The other 3 guys have about 2000 chips each. Blinds are 100/200.

I get JJ and I am first to act. I raise to 450. Next guy (2000 chips) folds. Next Guy goes all in for 1000. I decide there I am going to call because it only costs me 550 more. The next 2 guys fold. The big blind then goes all in for like 2200. What do you do here? How would you have played this hand?

I decided to fold.

They both turned over AK. No help on the board. If I called, I would have had about 5,000 chips and basically it would have been down to 3 guys.

If you have 1000 of your 1800 stack in here you can't fold. If you're in the BB and there are two all in raises in front of you a fold can be considered. But not here.

I only had 450 of my 1800 chips in...so if I fold here...I still have 1350 left...

I think the fold is right. Without reads telling me otherwise, 2 reraises all in would have me thinking that at best I'm against AK here. Are there other hands you could beat that BB would play this way? Losing 450 sucks here, but 1300+ chips is still enough to find another fight.

oh I misread it, when you said "i decided i was going to call" i didn't realize that was just a plan until the decision came. That's a tough spot, I will fold there depending on who I'm playing. If they've been playing the bubble really tight I would probably fold. But if they've been stealing, and generally aggressive I will call. Not an easy decision.

Hmmmmm call 1350 to win 3550 (I think I did the math right since the second all in has you covered). I don't think the pot's big enough. I think it swings to call if you have QQ.

I wrote an earlier post that no one has answered. Maybe you can. What differences in play have you noticed at levels 4-6 versus the first 3 steps?

But since the payout is almost winner take all wouldn't you be more inclined to gamble here?

I would think goal number 1 is to get to 3rd place so at least you don't go backwards. If you bust out at 3rd or 2nd, you get to try step 6 again. I think that's the true bubble in this situation.

The biggest difference I found was that the play is much more conservative/tight preflop...particularly in the first few levels. I have used that to my advantage in the middle levels...starting at the 50-100 level...to steal alot of blinds and get my chip count up. I have seen alot more folding to raises preflop then in the earlier steps. I have also found that a preflop raise of 2.5 the BB gets people to fold just as often as say a 3X raise (or more).

FWIW, I would have just pushed this hand to begin with. Make your decision easier for you. With the amount you bet, you invite action.

push pre-flop and its not even close. JJ is a great hand 5 handed especially when combined with the fold equity you have by pushing. You may see AQ-AK type hands fold to your all in bet, but the same hands will come over the top of your small raise.

Since you decided to make a small raise, I think it was a good move folding. Your not pot committed and I hate taking anything but AA KK AK type hands to showdown if I have more than 1 hand to beat.

9xbb, this is insanely easier if you push to begin with.
