Forgive me if this is obvious, but everybody makes this call, right?

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9/images/graemlins/club.gif, A/images/graemlins/club.gif.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 raises</font>, UTG+2 calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, Hero calls, ......

I would, but is there merit in 3-betting to be sure you get the button?

that something that crossed my mind too, but do we have enough equity to do this. I'd be more inclined to do it with a mid to high suited connector like J10s, 109s, or QJs

Seems reckless to me. Putting tons of money in preflop with a hand like QJs or 99 isn't always the best play, even if you have an edge. You want to make the pot bigger so people will give you action when you flop a big hand, but you don't want to make it so big that you need to invest a forture just to protect it when you flop something marginal. At a certain point you let your implied odds do the work as people will chase almost as much in a 14 SB pot as they will in a 30 SB pot while they might not in a 5 SB pot.
