Okay so this is a 2 table tournament on stars, top 4 get paid but it is a fairly top heavy payout. So what I want to know is will it be more profitable in the long run to play for a higher payout spot here than squeeking into the money?

1st = 7.2 buyins
2nd = 5.4
3rd = 3.6
4th = 1.8

UTG (t320)
MP (t8755)

Hero (t1390)
BB (t10920)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K/images/graemlins/spade.gif, A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.

What is the specific payout structure, it makes a big difference.

MP's limp is a little frightening, UTG is going to be all-in in the BB next turn, and even doubling up is going to put you in position where you're still not likely to do much better than 3rd. I think this is a fold.

EDIT: Hadn't noticed the poster was in the SB. As the poster following me points out, completing and check-folding if you miss or folding to a BB PF push, is better than folding immediately.

I play these and given the stack sizes right now, a double up doesn't do NEARLY as much $EV-wise as getting into the money. Complete the SB - see how good the flop treats you... If the monster stack in the BB pushes - muck.
