Before moving to Miami I had about a 12-15 minute/8-mile commute. Now it's around 45-60 minutes to go 6 miles. /images/graemlins/mad.gif

I don't skateboard since I'm older than 14. And I really don't want to stink all day. Besides running would not get me there any faster and bike riding the route I'd have to go is dangerous.

depends on how long it normally takes
ive had 3 1/2 hour 100 mile trips that should take only 1 1/2. the longer the trip, the harder to keep a very low mph average.

I commuted to high school, which was maybe 15-20 miles away. On a good day, I could get there in an hour, on a bad day, 3 or 4.

Hmmm. From my bed to my desk chair looks to be about...3 feet. If I wake up on the far side of bed, my commute's more like 7 feet.

But if a project I'm working on takes off, my commute'll be something like 120 miles. Anywhere from 75mins to 3 hours depending on the time of day. It's gonna be a rough transition.

In the mornings it takes around 40 minutes. In the evenings usually around 1.5hrs.

Where the hell do you work Dan? 20 years ago I worked in Boston and that was about 41 miles from my house in Worcester. I used to be able to make it in about 55 minutes.

Last week, I had to testify in an arbitration in Framingham and it took me 1 hour and 10 minutes from Worcester. Traffic had really gotten a lot worse and will probably continue to get even worse.

Trouble is, the federal government doesn't focus on the things it should be. Transportation should be more of a priority. Commuter rail from Worcester to Boston for instance is relatively new and the demand far exceeds the capacity of the system. So there are a lot of people who would keep the car in the garage if there was a decent mass transit system.

I bike 2 minutes to class. Average 2 times a day. That's 4 minutes there and 4 minutes back which totals 8 minutes total travel time.

12 miles. 15 minutes -25 minutes in the morning, depending on what time i leave. 15 minutes -2 hours in the afternoon, depending on what time i leave, the tide, and whether the stripers are running.

Bedford, MA. Construction on 290E + crash on 495N + gridlock on 3S + construction on the street my office is on + minimal amount of rain + left the house 20 minutes late (6:50 instead of 6:30) because I was up late on Empire trying to take Stan's money = 2 hours.

Unless they build a line from Worcester to the 128 belt, with stops up & down, mass transit will be pointless for many of us. I think Worcester has to recognize that it's no longer a "city." It's a bedroom community - a commuter location.

I visited my family in Methuen recently (where 93 meets NH). It's been 15 years since I lived there.

My brothers offered to drive me back to the airport, and asked what time my flight left, and what time I want to leave.

"My flight's at 8 AM," I said. "I'd like to be there by 7. So we should leave here by, what, 6:15, 6:30?"

The whole family laughed at me for 5 minutes.

The next morning, I saw why. We sat in traffic on PELHAM STREET for 15 minutes, before we even GOT to 93. Freaking PELHAM STREET, METHUEN. I grew up there. There was never TRAFFIC. There was no stop light at the 93 interchange.

We got on 93, and it was stopped. This was incomprehensible to me. I had never seen it stopped until you got near 128. It was stopped in Methuen.

I'm probably moving back there this year. I look forward to seeing my rent double; my car insurance quadruple; and all that traffic.

(Please, somebody stop me!)

My first job out of college, I commuted from my parents house in Claremont to my office which was located next to the beach/promenade in Santa Monica.

I did this for 3 months until I found a gf that lived closer, and then a apt. The average commute time was 1:45 for around 40 miles. If it rained, it was about 2:30. I wanted to kill myself every day.

Not recently...an office move at the beginning of this year shortened my commute from 45 miles each way to 36 miles each way.

I had plenty of 1:30+ commutes for the 45 mile one, and the one time it took over 2 hours, was for a truck into the barrier + cargo spill + fire that you can still see the marks from almost two years later. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Shajen

today was a doozie...

3 wrecks on 400S, so the commute was about 1.5 hours.

The funny thing was some lady tried to merge into the side of my truck then when she realized what she was doing honked her horn at me, rolled down her window and yelled out [censored] you.

So I stopped my vehicle, unfastened my seat belt, opened the door and walked up to her vehicle. She started screaming, so I grabbed a bat I carry for instances like this and knocked out her window. I then carried her back to my truck, after beating her unconscious with the bat.

She's tied up in the basement as I type this. Any suggestions?
