Haven't been to a No Cal casino for a couple of years, but will be at Bay 101 for the first time this coming weekend and early next week. What will I face in charges and rakes at LLHE (say up to 6-12)? All help appreciated.

HE spread 2-4, 3-6, 6-12, 9-handed.

$3 live button charge. Drops to $2 at 6 players (I think, might be 7) and $1 at 5 players.

Yup, this is correct...$3 is live, $2 on 6 players, and $1 below 6...

Above $6-12, same button charge but it's not live...

Thanks for the info. This sounds familiar, I think San Pablo had the same button charge when I played there in 2001.

Does someone have advice on how to change standard loose, LLHE play with the button charge (or hint on where to find the many posts that probably have appeared on this topic)? This seems to make 3-6 and anything below unprofitable, unless it's a really wild game.

Whats the rake/time in 6-12 to 20-40 games?
Is there a jackpot drop in any of these games?
and comps?

At Bay 101. No jackpot, no comps. Drop is live $3 in 3-6 and 6-12. $3 not live in 15-30. IIRC drop is $4 in omaha 4-8.

at bay 101's 6/12, I'll play any hand on the button if it's one bet to me.

Really? Any hand? Like T2o? I'm pretty tight on button.

I stayed with 3/6 the whole time. Played pretty tight, maybe too tight. It took me a while to get used to the raises that are regularly thrown in on the flop. Pre-flop was a little aggressive, but not too bad. It's expensive to watch the "regulars" continue to get up from the table in turn, leaving some tables 7 handed (or worse) for long periods of time.

Overall, there were about 4 to 6 tables of 3/6 and 2 or 3 tables of 6/12 on most evenings Sat through Monday. Played some Sunday morning, but games weren't particularly good. Game selection was crucial at all times. Table service from the restaurant, as is my experience in No. Cal., was horrible.

On Saturday night I was placed at a new 3/6 table with a good, loose cast. 2nd hand dealt KK on the button, which I raised and flop came AJJ against 3 players. I bet, raise and re-raise and i folded. Turn brick, river K. Good decision, bad outcome. Learned not to fold hands like Kxs from the BB for one raise with several callers. Made a couple flushes, straights, two-pairs and had control. Stole several hands after that with overcards. Left after 3 or 4 hours with a 30BB win.

Sunday morning was ugly. Got almost no starting hands at a tight aggressive table that was playing 6 or 7 handed for long periods and blinded to death. Played about 1.5 hours and gave back 15 BB. Bad choice of table, no cards, lots 'o blinds.

Sunday night I was prepared to move from any table that was short-handed. Had better starting hands than the morning and hit several hands. 3 friends that were particularly bad were at the table: You may know them, really noticeable NYC accents and attitudes. They were mostly having fun but 2 out of 3 played very badly. I think I made most of my money off of them. And then their attitude got a relatively good player at the table on tilt, and even he was calling me down when he should have been long gone. 3 hours, +20BB.

Monday night the tables were iffy, only one really good table, that I couldn't get a seat at. I jumped in and out as the number of players bounced around, refusing to play blinds 7 handed or less. Made a number of hands, probably annoyed the floor personnel, and walked out with about 10BB after 1.5 hours.

Fun trip, especially with Bay 101 just around the corner from my hotel.

glad you had a good time.

I don't like bay 101, from what I've found, Garden city's games are better.

If memory serves, the button has a three dollar fee at $6/12 at Bay 101.

HPFAP suggests playing any hand for 1/3 bet if you are in a 3/2 blind structure, and that's in the worst position on the table, so I can only imagine that the same logic applies as an argument for playing any hand for 1/2 bet on the button with the best position at the table.

Once the pot is raised I tend to practically disregard the smaller bet that I have to call and try to play close to what I would call if there was no $3 charge on the button

My favorite SF bay-area casino is The Oaks in Emeryville. You pay time in all poker games (between $3 and $6 per half-hour, depending on what you're playing). Unfortunately they recently introduced a bad beat jackpot for which they drop $1 per hand /forums/images/icons/frown.gif . Still the cheapest, though.

The only downside is the biggest hold'em game is 15-30.
