Download manager

i used to use download accelerator plus, but it went to crap a long time ago (i think) so ive just been downloading like a normal person. then i was using something else that i liked, but it expired after 30 days.

anyone use anything that works well, has a real basic interface and is free?

I believe there are Firefox extensions that handle this now, if you use that browser.
