Sorry to bother all those who aren't interested, but I want to try and reach everyone who is.

Due to the inclusion of some old folks - even older than Skipperbob - the game is going to start at 6pm.

Anyone who has a set of chips, especially if they are distinctive at all, should feel free to bring them. Couldn't hurt and it may prevent us from having to use Fruit Loops.

Sorry young man. We're going all the way up to 65, maybe 66. Hmm, maybe I'll invite my wife's grandma.

It's not going to work out for me, unfortunately. Micro, don't let the whippersnappers get you into too much trouble.

I'm most worried about getting into trouble because of Skipperbob, but that doesn't have anything to do with poker.

8:00pm on Friday is too late? Wow, I don't know if I should bring beer or Geritol to the game.

With LA traffic I'll probably still end up showing up around 7:00pm or so (getting off work at 4:00pm 45 miles from the game). LA Traffic before 6:00pm on Friday is GREAT!!!

I don't have any real clay chips, but I have a bunch of those shitty ass plastic blue, white and red chips, should I bring them?

Also what is the structure of the games? NL tournament, SnG's, ring, etc?

should be like a SNG that would be more fun that 1/2 game.

I don't care what we start with, but the last 6 players standing are going to be playing 2-7 Triple Draw until one person has all of the money in the room, and I don't like Raptor's odds. (Or mine, for that matter... unless drinking all the booze and playing every pot even if I have to draw 5 all 3 times is a winning strategy for triple draw.)

what the hell is 2-7 triple draw!?

this is an i think:

you play to make a low hand, ie 23457 is the nuts. straights count against you (this differs in variations). pairs count against you, you just try to make the worst possible poker hand. 25679 loses to 34578 since the nine kicker plays.

You get dealt 5 cards, and the betting is similar to limit. I don't know how it is started. You can draw 1-5 cards during the draw, which happens 3 times, hence the name triple draw.

Traffic on Friday Night in LA, never! I will leave my work in Irvine around 4:45, about 35 miles away, and I am lucky if I get there by 7:00. Even with carpool lane.

<fish alert> I've only been playing poker for 11 months so I basically only know Hold em and 7 card stud. This is just a head's up so you don't get mad if you have to explain the rules to me or I sit out on the game. </fish alert>

Read Daniel N.'s deuce to seven triple draw section in SS2, its pretty solid for learning the game from scratch.

Regarding games and limits

We'll play it by ear. The one thing I really don't expect is limit hold'em. There should be enough people at peak hours for 2 tables so there should be some more flexibility. A few of the people there, especially early, will not be regular players and will want to play lower limits.

Regarding starting time/ending time

The starting time has been moved to 6pm, but that should have no impact on the ending time. Feel free to come whenever you want, up until ... I don't know ... 1am ... but, who knows it could be going strong at 1am.
