This was a pretty typical, largely passive, full ring NL25 table on Party. The min raise could mean a very wide range of hands, but the re-raise almost surely means a premium hand (AA, KK, QQ, or AK, but probably not JJ, TT or AQ). I don't think there's a lot of room for debate on the preflop call. I do think I need to explain my thought process on the flop and turn play.
On the flop, he's offering me 4 to 1 odds to call. This doesn't show a lot of strength, given that his raise was to $2 preflop. So, I call, and I want my call to tell him that I have at least a pair, but more specifically, a Q or 9. I'm putting him, more than likely, on AK at this point. I also consider that he could be slowplaying a monster like QQ, but this is remote, as most people who slowplay don't bet at all. Even if he is on AA or KK, I'm already considering the three remaining Qs as outs.
On the turn, I was planning to raise regardless of what fell, barring an A or K. The Q I looked at as a huge help, because while he might be on AQ, this is unlikely since he did re-raise preflop. QQ is also highly unlikely. Whether he's on AA, KK or AK, at this point I don't care - I'm raising. And the raise has to be big enough to push him off whatever he's holding. $15 seemed adequate, and it was.
