A lot of times when I am taking notes on players, I will notate
when someone doesn't seem capable of folding a pair that was ever top pair, such as if opponent is holding 89 and board is
349 J A and he calls a river bet. I usually call this an anystreet top pair, but as you can see it doesn't really roll of the tongue OR the keys. Is there an actual term for this?

I love getting insulted by donkeys who play worse than I did when I was 12 years old.

Much as I appreciate the pithy replies, I'm looking for a name of the PLAY, not the PLAYER.

I'm guessing you all know that, but dammit, DO MY BIDDING, AND DO IT PROPERLY!

I doubt if there's a "proper" term for it. How about calling it a "topped pair"? or a "pwned pair" /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Topped is decent.

I would abbreviate it to TPOF... i.e. 'TPOF no fold EVAR"

Pretty much all my notes boil down to one letter abbreviations, once you work out a vague system, just improvise.

Are you just making a statement, or did you think Ogre was referring to you? I think he just convenience-linked to your post.

I have noticed this wonderful quality in some players as well. Although I don't take as many notes as i should, I would call the OTP (original top pair) or something like that.

Sometimes this is called a great call. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I would just note it as "pays off thin value bets".

But if you're looking for an official term, probably the closest is "thin call" which would refer to any call with a hand that's like the 180th nuts, not just "hands that might once have been best" (HTMOHBB).

I kinda like this one too, although it could be top pair from turn too, so maybe ETP for "ever top pair".

TY for all the input, you guys were a big help. I think it's gonna be ETP.

That's a flopped former top crying call (FFTCC).

Now what about players that can't lay down AK?

someone else already mentioned it, I use TPOF for that hand, the note might say: Can't fold TPOF. or "cntfldTPOF" if I'm in a hurry /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Plays like this I just use, "Weak player. Do not bluff.", "Not a folder.", or "Weak player. Once called down wtih ?? on ??? board. Not a folder. Do not bluff."

That's usually the foremat. Sometimes I'll include betting patterns.
