His attitude sucked, and his contract stunk, says GM

Philadelphia, PA- The new GM of the Phillies didn't waste any time, making his first trade less than an hour after becoming the latest GM of the Philadelphia Phillies. In a press release, Spindelsfw Inc. President Richard McNeal announced that Kevin Millar and his ungainly $17,500,000 contract had been sent to the Colorado Rockies for Mike Mussina and Paul Shuey. Mussina adds little to the Phillies, but signs point ot him making a move to the bullpen. Paul Shuey will likely be added in a Set up or closer role for the Phils, and rumors abound that he may retire after this year. Millar refused to negotiate on a new contract with the Phillies, and with 2 year remaining o his contract, the Phillies felt they had to choice but to dump him. It's no secret that Millar never lived up to the hype that his contract demanded. Rather than be stuck with him, the Phillies decided to get rid of him in the hopes of clearing up payroll and cash to sign free agents after the season is over. There is little hope in Philadelphia of making the playoffs. The Phillies have a few too many holes in their lineup and thier bullpen to make a serious run. In addition, the Phillies have little Minor League depth. The Phillies have a healthty stock of future pitchers, but little else in the cards. Even a New GM can't save these fightin' Phils, but with a little luck, they'll be competing in the next few years.
