For blocks and blocks, it's just movie trailers and cameras and lights and screens. Weird seeing old-school NYPD police cars and taxis on the street here in SF.

The cast apparently features a bunch of the original Rent cast members. I checked IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0294870/) and there aren't really any stars worth milling around to try and run into.

Sorry but all I can think of is that your location (parts unknown) has been narrowed down to the bay area.

Another piece of the puzzle!

I think you would intimidate them in your mask as well.

From IMDB:

This is the film version of the Pulitzer and Tony Award winning musical about Bohemians in the East Village of New York City struggling with life, love and AIDS, and the impacts they have on America.

He has posted pictures of the ballpark from inside his house, also he has quite a good knowledge of bay area casinos, etc.

I remember an after-school special with a similar plot. I believe that it starred Meredith Baxter-Berney and Corky from Life Goes On.

I thought Rent was great. I don't have really high standards for musicals though so my opinion doesn't carry much weight there. When I saw it on Broadway, Drew Lachey was supposed to play Roger, we were lucky enough to catch the show on one of his nights off and the guy who filled in did a really good job. I don't think I could have allowed myself to enjoy anything involving a member of 98 degrees.

When I moved into my current apartment almost exactly 2 years ago the block was taken over by taping for The Restaurant. Which meant that walking to the deli/grocery/drug store/dry cleaners/subway/drug dealer/full-release masseuse/holistic medicine guru meant walking past 2-3 camera crews interviewing/chasing a sulking actor/waiter.

Clearly the right thing to do here, near the set of a movie with a decent sized budget, is to liberally snarf grub from the food spread.

It's actually a good play. I suggest that you go see it if your raging homophobia is in jest.
