consider limping preflop but raising is good too.

i like bettin smaller maybe 1/2 pot on the turn, or checking behind turn to keep the pot small, and call a bet/valuebet the river.

given the turn action river seems fine, nice value bet.

I think raising this flop to $5 is ok too, as it will often fold these extremely weak bets. Not because you have a gutshot/overcard, but simply because you raised preflop.

I would play it same vs. unknown.

I like that idea. Sometimes I use it and sometimes not. Initiative is goot. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

However, I wonder what my chances of stacking this poor mofo is if I hit my gutshot, as if he has top pair, it will still be top pair, and he didn't give me correct (pot) odds to go for the gutshot.

Hmm...

I underbet the pot on the turn because the card was scary enough that a weak made hand couldn't call too much... I'm not really familiar with how to exercise pot control or play position.

What do you think of betting $5-$7 on this river? While it's true that sometimes the opponent will be semi-bluffing and fold to the bet, I figure I'm liable to get called with the same range of hands on the $5 bert as the $3, though I'm not sure about $7 vs $3 or $7 vs $5. Maybe even $4.50 just for psychological reasons.
