I live in Minnesota and my foursome for 7:45 tomorrow morning just became a threesome because it is supposed to be just below freezing when we tee off. So the question is:

It is NEVER too cold to golf. End of discussion.

Don't get me wrong, I love golf, but why would you want to play when its freezing? Your hands are cold, so you can't grip the club properly, and they will sting like hell on any mishit. Your swing tempo will be terrible. You will in all likelihood play a terrible round of golf, and will not have a good time because you are cold and angry. When I step out of my backyard I'm on the third hole of my course, so I can play anytime I want. Maybe that's why I say this, but there are far better times to play IMO.

The real question should be whether or not 7:45am is too early to golf. I love golf but the freezing temp. and early tee time almost guarantees I'm a no show.

Normally courses will not let players on the greens if the grass is frozen. Expect delays.

I went golfing on New Years Eve once, temp in the thirties. We played 6 holes.

There is a zero percent chance of you teeing off.

eh- if it was the end of golf season and you wouldn't get to play agian for 6 months, then don't be a pussy. On the other hand, its probably been about six months since youve played, so don't be such a pussy.
I have def played with sheets of ice down the fairway, and lost balls that we hit straight down zee middle.

I love golf, but that's too cold and WAY too early. 40* is my minimum temp and 9 am is the earliest I'd play.

Golfing at the buttcrack of dawn is by far the best time to golf. With a morning chill in the air (understandably a morning chill in Minnesota can be a tad extreme) and the soft crunch of the ground below your feet, the serenity really makes the perfect setting for a round of golf. Plus, it makes for a perfect time to have lunch and a few a beers after 18 holes.
