$100 Party MTT. 180 entrants, 80 left. I have t1540 in CO-1, with blinds at 50/100. MP1 bigstack raises to t300. His stats are 18/5/0 out of 65 hands.

I have 99. I see that calling will be 1/5 of my stack. My palms start sweating. I'm confused. I don't know what to do. And I fold. Can someone tell me what's wrong with me?

I was telling myself I had to play this for set value and I was hitting the 8-10 rule and that I'd just lose half my stack betting any flop checked to me and I totally psyched myself out of (I think) a profitable position.

Has this happened to you?

that's your problem right there. 99 is very different from 33 when you're only 18x deep.

i would move in or call without question. i might fold 77, but i'd at least call with 88.

Like what Matusow said to Raymer about his ball size.

I would probably push here. I might call also, it would depend on if I think the button/blinds are loose and would play as well. I want this HU.

If you call you're not just playing for set value. It completely depends on the flop if i'm getting all my chips in but an A/K/Q absent flop and I'm probably getting frisky.

Funny thing about Matusow is his ball size is results oriented.

They are huge when the opponent folds the better hand to his bluff, but have someone call him with a better hand and beat him and they shrivel up while he cries on the rail.
