Inspired by the recent discussion (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2198815&page=0&view=c ollapsed&sb=5&o=14&vc=1) in the "Becoming a better poker player" (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2197070&page=0&view=colla psed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1) post, I'm going to try collecting some set plays to help out the microlimiters. Maybe, with enough help, we can get a good collection going to tack on to the FAQ.

So let's start here. If you know of a hand that looks like an effective use of the stop and go, link me to it here. Let's focus on posts with detailed analysis, preferrably regarding why a stop and go was used rather than other possible lines.

Good idea. I've been playing B&M lately (and am having a very healthy winrate I might add /images/graemlins/grin.gif) so I don't have any specific hand examples. A very specific situation that I've been wondering about is when you have top pair/decent to weak kicker, you bet out, and you get raised when opponent could be raising for a free card. For example, say you have A /images/graemlins/club.gif7/images/graemlins/club.gif and the flop comes A /images/graemlins/heart.gif6 /images/graemlins/heart.gif5 /images/graemlins/spade.gif. In this situation, would you prefer a 3 bet on the flop or a stop and go?

How's this? Wan't paying attention PF - probably should've raised. Villian thought for about 20 seconds on the end before mucking.

Interesting. Another expert laydown artist who thinks you caught a flush? I wouldn't raise KJo from the blinds.

I normally wouldn't either, but there's a good chance I have the best hand with just 1 limper and the SB completion.
I just figured the flush card and the Ace made the bet/fold line a lot better than check/call; especially since villian likely had the best hand.

I like a stop & go on a paired flop vs. a guy who isn't unusually aggressive as a test to see if he has trips (and save a bet in the process). Vs. an opponent who would raise the turn without trips, this is obviously a bad idea.

I have been curious exactly what a stop and go is.
Is this hand considered a stop and go play?

That is a stop and go, although not a good one IMO. You have a decent equity edge on this flop, and unless you think CO is raising with a worse hand and will raise the turn also, I don't see the point in not reraising the flop.
