After 3 1/2 years and a non-formal (couldn't afford a ring) engagement, I broke up with her (this was my third attempt intermittently over those years) via AOL IM.

I know it's just a step above sending a morse code message, but I had tried doing it in person 6 months into the relationship and then did the backslide. Then I treid doing it over the phone 18 months or so into the relationship and I did the backslide again. I did it quickly over IM and told her not to talk to me again. Harsh, but it stuck.

Anyone here keep a relationship alive for a couple weeks just so you could get a present? Or dump someone early so you didnt have to give them a present? My buddy had this girl he would break up with before Xmas, her birthday and valantines day, ever year, and they dated for like 3 years. Lol, I added up what he spent on her onetime over those 3 years, and it came out to less than $100. This break up was a little [censored]. So I had been dating this girl for a bit...she lived like 1.5 hours away but was moving down to my city so I thought it would be ok. Chick turned out to be not cool.

Anyhow she came down on a Friday to stay for the weekend. I meet her outside my apt. and she has lunch she brought for me in one hand and a present in the other. Well she was curious of why I was outside and she asked where we were going. I told her I was going to the beach to play some vball. She was like "well can I come?" I grabbed the lunch, said "I'm going to the beach," hopped in my car and bounced before she could say another word.

It was cold but I would like to point out a couple things of advice. I live in a gated community so meeting her out front was huge to prevent crap being done to my apt. Grabbing the food was also clutch as I not only get to eat it, but it doesn't get thrown at me either.

I definitely felt like a dick and was really worried she would get inside the complex and I would have a brick through my window...but it turned out ok. It's amazing how a beach full of hot sluts can make you forget about everything else.

ok...i know this isnt towards me cause im a girl...but im bored so im gonna share anyway. There r a few times but one was the most fun...and i think ive stated it before but oh well here it is again...

i was dating some guy i wasnt that into so i didnt care too much what he did (most of the time if im dating i dont care...they can date or do who they want) Anyway....now depending on who else they sleep with will matter if i ever get serious etc etc, cause i dont want an STD thx...but basically he hooked up with a girl...which gave me good enough reason to end it anyway cause i was bored...he freaked out when i suggested not seeing him anymore and what not...and i said well u should have asked me...i would have joined in...and i walked out the door
