Which is the more profitable (for you) incorrect play by an opponent:

a) a player calls your bet with a weaker hand than yours

b) a player folds to your bet a better hand than yours

on the river a.
the rest of the time b.

Unless I'm missing something?

not enough information. In order to know for sure, we would need to know:

- how much is the bet
- how much is the pot
- how much "better" or "worse" is your hand. (for example, 4:1 underdog, etc)

It would be possible to contrive an example where an example of (a) is better than an example of (b), and vice versa.

Usually (b) because winning a pot is usually better than winning a bet, but as jba pointed out, 'it depends.'

Edit: Note, however, it is easier to get an opponent to do (a)....

its all situational really.

A happens alot more in limit and thus is probably alot more important.
