I've never seen it. In fact, I've never heard of it. I've seen tatami mats in Japan, but that's it.

What's it look like? More importantly, how is it going to wear? How are you going to finish it?

I've seen some beautiful old maple floors, but can't imagine what it costs these days, or what quality of wood is available.

As a side note, I once bought a house with "snapper" wood floors and vinyl siding. I didn't think I could abide either, but after a year I was sold on both.

Are you installing it, or having it done professionally? I can't recall seeing the finished product, but I used to work in a hardwoods store during the summer in college. We sold a bit of bamboo flooring. IIRC, it's not the easiest thing to install, and I would do some research on the pros and cons before settling on it.

bamboo is very hard, im going to assume it will wear better than most of the traditional woods.

If I remember correctly, bamboo is very hard, and that can make it not as good of a choice based on certain climates. Some of that has to do with the subfloor you have as well, but from my recollection, if you're in an area with a lot of temperature changes, your flooring is going to expand and contract a lot, and some of the harder woods don't handle that as well.

It's been a while since I worked with all of that stuff though. Anyway, I'm not saying don't buy it, I always thought it was cool. I would just do some research on it.

its nice stuff. but also trendy and may not be in vogue when you sell. i put in 3/4 oak floors in my places for about 6.50 a sq. foot. timeless stuff and looks good. to each his own with that kind of stuff.
whatever you put in find out how many times it can be refinished, as dogs or things can make that a reality.
