50 person home tournament. 110 buyin with 55 rebuys in first hour. Top 5 get paid and they are down to final 3.
Blinds 5000-10000
Stack sizes:
Hero-BB 45,000
Button 150,000
SB 40,000

Payouts
1st 40%
2nd 20%
3rd 10%

Button is the loosest on at the table and most aggressive. He will call pushes liberally as well.
Sb is weak-tight, His stack has been dwindling for a while now.

Button Limps, which was the first time he did this three handed from the button. SB folds.
Hero holds 99 and checks

Flop:
10 7 5 rainbow.
Hero checks, Villan pushes, Hero folds

Thoughts?

Edit: i observed this hand.

For starters, why check PF?

BB is 10k, he has 45k. Probably more FE on the flop.

This is honestly a pretty bad hand to post because you're by far better equipped to make the read and put him on AA than we are.

I will say, though, that if you play with him again you're eventually going to have to make him show this kind of limp down. Also, if you had QQ, sometimes you have to grit your teeth and push anyhow.

I don't think he has AA. Even though he limped, im pretty sure he doesn't have AA

If this isn't a 'read' hand, PF is close(r) but you've gotta push the flop.

I edited my post, i observed this hand, but hero didn't feel that villan had AA

OK then, he's gotta push the flop /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The only alternative is to check/call trap and I'd only do that if I was 100% sure he would push any two when checked to. Under no circumstances is this a fold UNLESS the read is he has aces.

Does it matter that 2nd is twice as much as 3rd, and there is a good chance the Sb will bust out very soon.

BB and SB have similar stack sizes, no saying who will bust first. Also, this is hand where you could hit 95K and vilian would have 110K. It would change the whole game. I like this play if you call here. Otherwise, raise PF or bet the flop, IMHO. It is true you have more FE on the flop, but I'm not sure you want FE against a guy who might call a PF AI with A8/K8. I like taking chances, particularily at the FT. I'm certainly not folding here.

Yeah, I thought stop and going any decent flop was the right move. I actually got this from the archive, and Fossilman argues folding here. I was kind of confused so i thought i would post it.

Weird.... what on earth could his reasons be? Also, hard to imagine fossilman folding... "It's a race! Call!"
