Everyone at this table is loose, SB is fairly aggressive, and BB is fairly passive.

It was just that you were playing nickle/dime poker at a made up sight.

I thought it was supposed to be a joke, and I just didnt see why it was funny!

5-bet it.

Christ. I mean, I know you probably posted this intentionally to show how ridiculous some recent posts have been (and generally the trend of too many non-original/interesting hands going up), but c'mon. .05/.10, 6-max? Faaantaastic. Post it in HUSH, micro, your bulletin board, or ANYWHERE else!

Okay I fixed it :-P.

I just figured the stakes didn't matter, it's just poker after all /images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Anyway if anybody has some strategic advice on this hand I would really appreciate it ^_^.

LOL. Didnt mean to make ya change, just thought it was supposed to be a joke.

With tight reads behind you, I think Im cool with the PFR. But if there is even one loose player, I dont like it.

After that, I would have folded when it was 2 back to me.

Really? I am getting 10-1 with a two pair draw and the nut backdoor flush draw.

So without discounting outs I have 6.5 outs, but I guess I should discount because I could be up against a set. Even taking two more off that though I come up 4.5, which still makes it a call.

What am I missing?

I thought the flop 3-bettor was passive... I think I misread.

Did you mean to give a read on BB (he didnt play), but not on button?

(I assumed that is a passive player 3-bets that flop, some of your outs arent overly live on that board)

Ah yeah that's what I meant.

I agree they aren't totally clean. Even a passive player can three-bet two pair here though, and I'm drawing quite live against most two-pair combinations (the ones that are more likely since I'm holding an eight).

Maybe I can run this one through pokerstove. Gonna be hard to put SB on a range of hands though.

Basically my reasoning was:

passive player 3-bets that flop, his most likely holding (and I dont want to sound weak tight here) is, sadly, a set.

He would have to have cold called preflop with T8 or T6 or 86 to have a 2 pair combo.

Do you think those are in his range?? (what is is VPIP?)

CallMeIshmael

I guess he could have something like 8d9d as well

Yes.

I just checked pokertracker, his VPIP is 48.65.

Then I retract my response. Call the flop.

What are your thoughts on the turn? In light of his VPIP (and the flop being cool) I think a strong case can be made for folding.

You are getting 12-1. Which means you need about 3.5 outs. Which means you need to win 70% of the time you hit your 5-outter (assuming your hand is never good now)

There is also a chance of a raise behind you.

Preflop: I think I toss that junk in MP. Suited we can talk.

Flop: I think like a call here. You want someone to hit their A the same time you do. The A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif is pretty and makes a raise look not so bad.

I agree, I think I should have folded the turn. Too much chance of it getting raised behind me.

There is one fold after him, then the button calls.

(Long story short, einbert made a joke post as the original, and then reedited it.)

You may have missed it originally - but Hero is clearly in the hijack in this hand (5 folds, Hero raises, 1 fold, Button calls . . . )
