Hello 2+2.

This is my last moving post as I’m all set to move a week from today.

I am mobile phone shopping and I was wondering if anyone could post their experiences with their carrier’s mobile Phone reception in the major Las Vegas cardrooms. Both recommendations and cautionary tales are appreciated.

I want to make sure the carrier I go with doesn’t have problems when I go to play live game poker.

Thanks!

Sprint works well in the major card rooms that I visit frequently. One room that Sprint does not work in is Luxor, but that's about it. I can usually get reception elsewhere.

My Treo 650 through Sprint worked fine at all the major rooms that I played at this past weekend. I played at the Bellegaio, Mirage and MGM and had no problems with reception at all. I've actually had pretty good reception in Vegas with the exception being when I stayed at the Hilton I had trouble getting a signal.

This make me feel better about my upcoming trip to Vegas, when I lived there my Sprint woudl not come in tin the casinos. But I haven't been there since 2001.

Any rooms that have cell-phone jammers? That's what I'm looking for.

OK.

So Sprint works well except in the Luxor and the Aladdin.

Any other carriers that work well in all the major rooms?

Any perfect carrier for card room reception?

Any carrier’s to stay away from based on this criteria?

Anyone have T-Mobile?

Thanks for your input; I appreciate the help.

I thought most of the cardrooms were considered too close to the sports books, and hence banned phones. But apparently that's a misimpression from my few days spent in Vegas.

Cellphone jammers are illegal. I doubt that any casino wants to go head-to-head with the FCC.

OTOH, it is legal to use materials that may block reception.

I have Sprint and it WORKS in the Luxor but for some bizarre reason, I am "roaming" when I play at the Luxor.

Cingular had me covered from Mirage, Bellagio, MGM, Excal, to Luxor. Even at the Palms. Their customer service on the other hand, sucks donkey balls.

This is very common wiht Sprint. Usually when I am in a casino Sprint does nor come in but I am abel to connect to someone else's network and roam.

Ahh, I see. That makes sense. I have my phone setup for ONLY the digital network. It won't connect to the analog system. That way I'll never be hit with roaming charges.

You're right. Most poker rooms in Vegas are located very close to the books. As you know, visitors can't use cell phones in (or near) the books, so this prevents players from using cell phones while playing poker.

Still, a lot of rooms that are NOT located near books prohibit cell phone use at the table.

Anyone have any experiences with Verizon Card Room reception?

Thanks again.
