looks like prop 202 is gonna pass (51-49)

so indians get blackjack and maybe other house games like vegas.

nobodys really sure what 202 does but it looks like its not gonna be good for poker.

time will tell.

Brad,

I am not familiar with the wording of your prop 202 but just how does it change the laws regarding poker? If you are implying that allowing BJ will decrease the number of poker players I believe you are mistaken.

I think he is implying that cardrooms with limited floor space will instead choose to eliminate many tables (or even eliminate poker entirely) to allow for the more profitable table games. I guess time will tell.

I found a more detailed outline of proposition 202 and it appears that poker will increase rather than decrease as Brad suggested.
"Proposition 202 will share with the state between 1 percent and 8 percent of gross gaming revenues from Indian casinos, depending on annual revenues.
That could add up to $102 million.
In return, the tribes will be allowed to expand gaming operations, adding more slot machines and bringing in roulette and table games such as blackjack, craps and poker.Proposition 200 was sponsored by the Colorado River Indian Tribes. It would have allowed all 21 American Indian tribes in the state to operate up to three casinos each, with slot machines and table gaming."

assuming it passes (it's only leading by 33,000 votes right now), casino arizona will move its poker tables from the main building to the indian bend location (t2) to make room for the other table games. that itself will hurt poker, since players will have to choose which casino to go to.

the house banked table games will surely take their toll on the poker economy, and many of the gamblers will spend their money on bj rather than poker. 202 also restricts the maximum limit for poker games to 75-150 (no more 100-200 pot limit).

this is great for the casinos, but bad for us poker players.
