I chose the latter. I felt that if I were rich, and did a lot for society, had sex with a lot of women, then I would die a happy man at 50.

depends what you're in it for i guess

i'd probably pick live to 100 because it would give my mind more time to develope/learn more stuff, asuming that by living to 100 you don't mean having a mind-affecting disease for a large portion of your latter life

although i think if i was less selfish i would pick live to 50 because with the money i could help other people more i reckon

it all depends on how you define "poor" and "rich". Poor in a third world country i don't think i would want to live past 30, and if by rich you mean bil gates/warren buffet rich but without having to work for it, easy choice.

So I guess the question for you is: do you want to be slappin' the bitches and jackin' the ho's until you're 50 or 100?? /images/graemlins/wink.gif

You kinda left out the crucial part, which makes it seem unfairly assumed in a certain way: whether you're happy or not to either age. Many rich people have a spectacular gift for not being unhappy, but to poor people it comes naturally. Being poor for 100 years wouldn't be so bad at all if you were happy. There are many types of poor, though. It would depend what type of poverty you were talking about, and where.

I would take live poor but only to 50 over living to a hundred.

There have been multiple studies that back up the original statement here. Money by no means equates to happiness. Also how do you die, another question that needs to be addressed.

It depends on the difference in quality of life between being 'poor' and 'rich'.

Assuming 'average homeless person in America' for poor and 'a million dollars a year' for rich, I would have to say I would rather live rich and die at 50.

The more you narrow the gap, however, the more being poor and dying at 100 is going to be favored.

Poor people have a lot more to be unhappy about. Rich people often take all the good things in their life for granted, on the one hand, and blow up all their disappointments out of proportion on the other.

By the way, what I meant to say was actually "Many rich people have a spectacular gift for being unhappy, but to poor people it comes naturally." -- the "not" was left in there by accident.

How does that differ from if you did believe in God?

The only way you can be made living poor and live to 100 is if you are in a tremendous debt, and the creditors get to take almost everything you have every week or so, and you don't get any new credit, and the creditors tweak your DNA for longevity, and take good care of your health. Or they make you really dumb so that you can't make any money.
I think, there is a sci-fi plot here.
