Masking or changing IP address

Hi are there any programs that anyone knows of that would either change or allow me to mask my IP address?

Your IP address is attached to all packets of information that leave your computer. It is needed so that the recipient of said packets can send information back to you.

If you go through a proxy however your true IP address should be hidden.

I asked because I think every college has a proxy server for its students to use and I'd be able to help you set that up. I don't know how to do it otherwise. Sorry. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Why would you want to do this?

As other posters said, you can use a proxy. However, if you're doing anything illegal then that's not Good Enough(tm).
