Everybody hurts is from 1992 off of Automatic for the People

Losing My Religion 1991 off of Out of Time

Monster was released in 1994

Up released in 1998

Reveal 2001

Only major album released in 80's was Eponymous

This isn't true at all. They had quite a few good and respected albums in the 80s (Murmur, Reckoning).

I think it's borderline for each decade. They're a mix.

REM's best stuff is clearly and obviously ALL from the 1980's.

I saw them in concert in 1988 and they were reasonably big at that time (ever heard of Document?).

All of their 1990's stuff is pretty lousy imo.

Synchornicity was 1982 I believe....but I prefer their earlier stuff which was 77 and 78.
I guess I don't have too much of a problem listing them as an 80's band as this was when they peaked popularity-wise.

The Clash
The Police
U2
early Psychedelic Furs
The Cure
The Cult

I freaking hated both New Order and Depeche Mode but obviously their faithful would tend to vote for them.

Wow, no GNR mention. Appetite was in '87

This is a big overstatement. Arguably their two biggest albums are both from the 90s (Out of Time and Automatic for the People).

Their biggest does not mean their best.

I just never liked their 1990's stuff.
