Aren't you like 12? Why are you starting posts on 70s music?

Led Zeppelin...

Competition over, nothing to see here. That group completely owned rock over the decade and it isnt even close. Also it should be noted Zeppelin has tremendous cross over appeal to fans that dont usually listen to tons of heavyish rock.

Honorable mentions:CCR(a closeish 2nd), Elton John, The Wailers, Stevie Wonder,Pink Floyd, Al Green and about a dozen more soul/r&b singers...

I actually agree with zaxx, except for him not putting the Stones in.

Well, since nearly all of their best albums came out in the 70s, INCLUDING London Calling, my vote still stands.

To quote Jimmy Page himself: "Even when
Led Zeppelin was mediocre, we were still better than everybody else."

This competition is only interesting if you don't allow Led Zeppelin to compete.

Coincidentally The Stones are probably my favorite band.

Just dont really think of them as a "70's band"

similiarly Im not sure I see The Who as a 70's band even though most their stuff was released in the decade.

I also find it troubling more people havent mentioned CCR.....they friggin rock.

David Bowie deserves a mention, no?
