I'm typing on the gf's computer, since mine now fails to startup.

After attempting to load Windows (it's an Inspiron 9200 w Win XP), it stops with a blue screen with the following message:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000142 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
the system has been shut down.

I can't get past this.

I tried starting in Safe Mode - same result.
I tried starting from Last Known Good Configuration - same result.

Anyone got any suggestions.. /images/graemlins/confused.gif /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks

ouch, pop in your XP cd and reinstall corrupted parts. Google "c000021a {Fatal System Error}" and you'll get more thorough results.

This is what you gotta do, 'cept you might need some more info.

You need to set the cd as the first boot device in bios. It will be listed under boot order, advanced setup or another section, but you need to find it and set cd as first.

Then boot from the XP cd. DO NOT use the repair option on the first screen. The one you want is a couple screens later.
