Hey all,

I look 21 but am only 19 and I can't wait to hit up the B&M rooms in Atlantic City.
I was wondering if any of y'all have some advise on whether they're usually effective or not.
Any moral comments you might have on this subject should be spared, thanks.

the closest Indian Casinos are about 8 hours away... Atlantic City is within an hour or so /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Play on-line for 2 more years and don't risk going to jail getting caught in a casino with a fake I.D. Your better off trying without one and risk not getting in. If you get caught your screwed. Not worth it.

If you have a good fake ID, go with it...I just finished sneaking into casinos for the past year and a half without getting caught, but just be careful and smart.

i would go to ac if you had a friends id that was real and looked like you, otherwise i would stroll in the casino and if you get carded tell them you don't have it on you.

Fake IDs are often very effective at getting you locked up.

work out the pot odds, 16 hour round trip vs What is the penalty for presenting a fake id at an AC casino?

all you need is one security gaurd that takes himself too seriously, but of course no security guard ever takes himself to seriously.

I disagree. We have a couple that think they're undercover F.B.I. agents. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif They even give us 8-10 year employees a hard time coming in the back door and they see me everyday. It's sad actually. Most security are out there having fun with the crowd. There are a few that take it VERY seriously.

really BAD idea.

underage kid (and good player) hit a bad beat jackpot and it was a disaster out here.

Don't do it.

I think your better off not showing a fake id, rather just saying something like "I left my id in my car I will be right back and quickly gather chips and walk to your car or go to your hotel room"....I am under the age of 21 and have played at the Taj with out a problem if you go to the newer casinos you may have a problem such as the borgata but casinos like the taj they dont id much

So what if I sit down, get confronted, try to leave and they want to escort me to the ID or something? Also I highly doubt they'd let me just grab my chips and leave...
Am I being overly paranoid here??

You're not being overly paranoid, but I think you should just find a 21+ year old friend who almost kind of looks like you and carry his ID with you when you go - there are no bad beat jackpots in AC so you don't have to worry about that - I've seen people get carded at all the major AC rooms, it's no big deal they just glance at the ID and move on about their business - just play poker, dont order any alcohol, and i think you'll be just fine.

You aren't being paranoid. If they ask for an ID, and you say you'll go get it, you won't be carrying your chips with you.

I think it depends on the spot. A fellow underaged poker playing buddy of mine is friends with a security guard at Foxwoods, and supposedly their protocol for getting caught playing without an ID is they ask you to please cash in your chips and leave. No seizing chips, no calling the cops or anything....I wouldn't know, I've been ID'ed at the door (so I made something up and went in the next door), but once I've been inside I haven't been bothered.

Of course this is for Foxwoods not the Taj so take it for what its worth, Nuffin

Unless the fake ID is quite good, leave it at home. Getting caught with a fake is the nut low, especially if the fake is not in your name. We're talking judges and courtrooms.

However, know this: AC poker rooms are pretty mediocre at carding from my experience. When I just turned 18 I spent three days in AC playing in all three big poker rooms (Trop, Borg, Taj) without getting carded once. And Mike Gallo will tell you that I definitely don't look 21 (or that I definitely didn't at the time.)

If you get caught, just say you left your id in your car and that you want to cash out and go get it. They can't really stop you. Then just go do a different casino.

if you get carded and say "it's in my car, i'll brb" they aren't going to let you rack your chips and run for the door.

You need to adjust your sarcasm meter, you missed that one.

If they look old enough, they might get by an older retired guy security guy but if they run up against the young geeky one that has all that stuff hanging from his Batmaan style ultily belt, they are screwed.

If AC is an hour away, then Foxwoods is a maximum of five and a half hours away.

Math is easy.

Assuming you are in NJ or PA, getting caught with a fake ID can lead to suspension of your drivers license until your 21st birthday.

This is true, but you must be 21 to play poker at the Foxwoods... I just called there and double checked this /images/graemlins/frown.gif.

No it can't, but it can be suspended for up to either 6-12 months, not sure which.

I havent been to AC, but I will say that my fake has worked at every poker room ive been to (about 10 or so ) and it is medicore at best. Just act relaxed and you probably wont even be carded.

It better be a good fake. I am 19 and go to a card room near my house on the regular using a half decent fake, but they dont really care there and now they know me by name. Going to AC or Vegas is risky unless the fake is pretty good. The best thing to do is find someone that looks like you, that way its a real ID. The worst part is when you play poker for a few hours make a bundle of cash, and then they card you when ur cashing out and take your money and send ya to jail. Be careful and confident, security guards aren't poker players, they cant tell when ur bluffing.

Go without ID, dress like a grownup, walk in like you own the place, don't drink and stay out of tourneys.

Oh, and for godsakes, cut your hair and run a comb through it. High schoolers these days look like I did back in '82 with grungy-ass unkempt hair. Bleh.

I'm 21 now, but i first went into a casino with my dad when I was 18. I think the fake I made that time was a paper temporary I put the doctor on using photoshop or something.
Anyway I used 4-5 id's in 3 years, some good some bad.
Kicked out a couple times. When they kick you out, they escourt you to the cage to cash out then out of the casino.
Never got kicked out of the same casino twice in the same day.
A good idea is to ask for a stamp or ID braclet when you walk into the front from the first guard the ID's you, this makes life easy. These guys are generally the loosest at letting people in... if someone cards you inside its usually a bad thing, you are much more likely to get kicked out if they card you inside. Dont go up to the bars.
I have experience with Tunica, Biloxi and a couple other casinos in the SE while underage, never went to AC underage so I dont know if its different there.

Oh I dont know if this helps or not, but never get intimidated or admit the ID isnt yours. Dont smart off. They'll say stuff like, "I am going to ask you 1 more time, Is this your ID?" You say, "Yes, sir it is"
And for god sakes make sure you know the information cold, at the end of a 15 hour session one time i forgot the address on the id and got kicked out because of that.

happy hunting

Just FYI, my father is a criminal juvenille defense attorney, and he has multiple atlantic city fake id cases. They've been pressing charges recently. 99% of people aren't going to get caught, i've been there a couple times and i haven't been caught, but people do in fact get caught.

(one of the cases i know involves a kid who DID NOT have a fake id, but was carded and arrested when he couldn't produce one, of note is this happened at a blackjack table, i've never heard of this happening in a poker room, but just putting it out there)

if i saw you sneak in, i'd kick you in the nuts...mainly because of an annoying experience from a local cardroom i play at...after placing in a tournament, i got on the list for the one game they had running...the place USUALLY checks IDs (my friend who has been there 50 times didn't have his once and they gave him ridiculous [censored] about it and made him leave even though he was already paid into the tournament)...anyway...i wait for 2 hours while 1st on the list for a seat....only to find one of the players wasn't old enough to play...to top it off, the kid got caught because instead of getting more cash from the ATM, he went to the cashier's cage WHERE YOU HAVE TO SHOW ID!!!

This is true. 21+ and they don't mess around. Last time I was there, a kid hit a royal flush at the poker table and the dealer called over the floorman to give the kid a jacket. The floorman asked for his ID, and when they found out that the kid was under 21, they took his chips and 86'd him. It's not the only time I've seen it happen either.

Actually (I just found this out) in NJ they are leaglly required to return the cash from an under 21's initial buy in since they completed that initial transaction.

but if you were trying the "ID in the car" excuse, they wouldn't know you were 21, and you definately wouldn't want to get into legal matter like that.
