example. say i have some web hosting from a company. say i put some copyrighted files up on that space that i'm renting from this company and posted links to the files on a small message board or in my aim profile or something. what is the worst that could happen?

what kind of copyrited files? if its riaa or mpaa most likely they will send you a c&d if they somehow find it. the lawsuit stuff has historically only been for p2p users AFAIK.

what are the chances of them finding out ? and what if it's not something like a metallica song or a newly released movie... right?
