UTG had been limping almost every hand and folding to raises so I figured he'd fold this time too. Is this too early to push? Blinds were going up in 3-4 hands. What are you supposed to do in general when there are so many people left and the blinds are so high?

Converter sucks lately. Seems you pushed and got called. I think you were really likely to be called here and don't like the push too much. UTG had a pretty big stack and so did BB. UTG is also way out of position and should be given a little more respect for the limp.

I just finished a $22 where all 10 were left in level 4. If you are getting short stacked at the full table you just have to wait until you get a real hand or you get a chance to be first in the pot where you think you have a lot of FE - or maybe push against a limp from LP.

Well, the blinds aren't THAT high. Close, though. It's 8-handed, and you're the small blind, too, so the blinds aren't going up in 3 or 4 hands, either.

The thing is, UTG already signaled he wanted to play by putting money in the pot. He even did it from the weakest position on the table, so he must REALLY want to play. You're making it sound like he's weak-tight, too, so he must necessarily be playing with only the strongest set of his limping hands right now. And that's the time you picked to try to make him fold(and the big blind, as well).

It looks like you may well have walked into a bear trap there. You need to keep in mind the effect of position on limping standards. Ax or a small or medium pair seems a very likely holding for a limp from UTG.
