Ok, we've all had this happen to us. It's 5 handed, you're one of three stacks vying for the last spot. You're not short stacked, but you can't afford to wait.

It's folded to you in the small blind, you've been dealt two cards so you push. Doh, you're called. Hope my 63o holds up. Sweet, a 3 on the turn, and I knock out the guy who called me with this AJs.

OK, so now my table image really sucks. Does anyone change their game strategy due to this? I've noticed that my pushes tend to get called more often now, because they know...

You mean in other games they get called more now?

Hopefully combined with that more people also fold to you because they think you are insane.

After showing off your suckout skills, they should be wary of calling you next time!

OK... maybe not. Seriously, you should now have a stack with which you can be somewhat patient. I'll try to wait for a decent hand before I put all my chips back in the middle again.

That's what I do too. When you get caught pushing with garbage and win anyway, your next pocket kings or whatever can make a lot of money, or knock a player off the table who's only committing because he thinks you're stupid or full of baloney. No matter what image you get, there's a way to work it to your advantage.

I remember when I used to play 7-stud in casinos. My quiet, cautious, tight-arse nerd look let me steal a ton of pots. There's that saying, "You gotta give action to get action." It should have a follow-up saying, "Why would I want action with this crap?"
