Books. Everyone else will get him toys and clothes. No one ever buys books.

Guns, cigars, scotch are good gifts. Never too early. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Or money for mom I guess.

Actually one of the funniest things I ever saw was a 2 year old opening his presents at his birthday party. He was getting a bunch of good stuff, toys, games, etc... then he got a package with clothes. It took him a while to open because it had wrapping that was tough for a 2 yr. old to deal with. So he struggled with it and finally got to the presents inside. he held up the first piece of clothing, looked disgusted, and threw it aside on the ground. He did the same with the next two items. Then he looked at his mother stunned that somebody would play such a nasty trick on him and said "There's no presents in there." Pretty funny at the time.

Good call.

Buy him a couple books, you don't need to spend a ton as he won't know the difference, simply getting something he'll enjoy from you is what counts. If you want to help the family financial situation out, then also include some money with the card.

Something for now and something for later.

Now: Books are good. Cute clothes are always good. Toys are lame at that age unless they are sports related.

Later: A small investment or savings bond.

I am not Catholic but my sons are being raised that way. If I remember correctly you should be giving him presents on the anniversary of the day that he was baptised also.

Do you think Hold'em Excellence by Lou Krieger or Gambling Thoery by Sklansky is a better choice?

Neither, but rather Poker Essays Volume 2. Page 61 has a charcoal sketch of a nude Mason Malmuth.
