I thought it was one of the most interesting looking covers they have done. Forgot to pick up my three copies though /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Purty sure the cover was shot by Ulvis Alberts(sp?) who published a famous book of photographs of poker players taken during the 1980(?) WSOP, which was mentioned in Biggest Game In Town.

Nice article on Stewballs; defo seems that particular book won't be a hagiography.

Too bad they screwed up big time about Stuey. The ad on the first page (the big animated rectangular one) says he won 80, 81 and 87. The article about him says he won wsop me 80, 81 and 98. 80, 81 and 97 are the correct years... They gotta have real bad research. I think the magazine has gotten worse the past months.

As co-author of the story (and the book, Aces & Kings, from which the story is taken), I want to clarify something: we did get the dates right. The story notes that Stuey won in 1997, and hoped to win in 1998.

And, as the previous poster observed, the book is not a hagiography. We took pains to show the poker world as accurately and objectively as possible. It's gritty at times but also makes clear that the top players are remarkable survivors as well as formidable talents.

Ok, but the ad for the magazine is still wrong.
