Trying to convince my sister-in-law that she actually has to leave the house to have a chance to meet someone (since she won't do the online dating thing).

A great place to meet a girl is at a party. That's the #1 place, I would say. Or just hanging out w/ an extended group of friends, then you talk to your friend's friend and find out she's pretty cool, and it goes from there.
Bars aren't so great for meeting the relationship type.

Met mine at work.
How old is this person, that has a lot to do with it. If she is 18-24 she can go to some campus functions or out with a little group of friends.
If she is over 30, tell her to go to the supermarket or laundromat and wear some skimpy outfit provided she can pull it off.

Shes over 30 and doesnt want to leave her house...there is NO WAY she can pull it off. Hell just being over 30 alone makes it like 85% certain she couldnt pull it off.

I met (sort of re-met) my last girlfriend at my local B&M. It was crazy, but then again, so is she. So I guees it was the perfect place.
Past girlfriends have been met through other friends, bars, work (when I did have an actual job), and high school/college. I'm not currently looking for my next ex-girlfriend. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
She's 30. Attractive/cute, but not extraordinarily hot. 5'2", 115 lbs. Basically just no dudes where she works, and she's not into the bar scene.

That's a big part of my problem. I can't set her up with anyone because I don't know any single guys around here. Five years ago, no problem. But now, all the guys I know who live in this area are married (or very close to it).

I have a similar problem. I'm 38, don't do the bar thing, and I play chess and poker - two activities not known for their throngs of female adherents. I went to an engineering school. I've only ever met women at work, and now I don't even have a real job. Tried the internet thing with comical results, as I posted in another thread, but I still hear a lot of success stories with it too.

LOL. No, seriously. Only downside is she is very conservative, which might turn some people off. Of course, just as many (or more) people find that appealing.
Her problem is that she literally just doesn't go anywhere other than work and her apartment most days. I have run out of ideas to help her, thus the post.

Network dude. Talk to your guy friends, they have other single guy friends, get her to talk to her girlfriends at work. You might not know any single guys directly, but I am sure you, your wife, or the girl in question together must know someone who does know a single guy. If she's not ugly/crazy setting her up shouldn't be that much of a problem.

I met my current gf at Barnes & Noble.
So easy to meet people there. And you know they are intelligent enought to at least read. Just ask them a question about whatever book they are holding. Nod your head for five minutes and ask them if they would like a cup of coffee. Go on a saturday night. Nobody in Barnes and Noble on saturday night is going to turn you down for a date unless you smell.
The one before that I met at the gym. This is another great place to meet people. Just ask them about whatever exercise they are doing or about diet and nutrition and nod your head for five minutes then ask them to go for a pizza or something.
