....meaning, how much of your income do you get from poker?

Josh? Is that you?

I wondered that too, but checked Donk's other posts and they don't seem to have Josh's tone. Plus this poll doesn't seem like something Josh would do. Either he's doing a good job disguising it, or it's just not him.

FWIW, I feel there is a nice percentage of SS posters who are in the same boat as myself:

- College student
- No job
- Plays poker for spending money.

Since I dont have another job, I derive all of my income from poker (excluding scholarships/aid).

Because of this I fit in with the 'Pro' definition in your poll, but I'm far from that.

There is a difference between a job and a career. A friend of mine swipes your card at dining halls, but (the last I checked) she doesnt consider herself a professional card swiper just yet /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I donk for fun and for profit, but it's not my job.

OK, I'll answer seriously too. I was probably just a shade above 10 percent last year. I am the epitomy of a part-time player, since I probably average about 5 hours per week total. I wish I had time to play more. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I can vouch for this not being Josh.

It can not be Dave because Dave is a little bit better than this (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=smallholdem&Number=2152087 &Forum=,All_Forums,&Words=&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&M ain=2147696&Search=true&where=&Name=32743&daterang e=&newerval=&newertype=&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyp rev=#Post2152087). /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Not me. I know of someone who has taken a liking to the word "Donk" with a vengeance, and he's my frontrunner. He once had a post that said, in its entirety, "Douchebag. My new favorite word."

Eh, most of my income right now comes from poker, but I'm not a pro. I'm just an idiot without a real job. I really don't feel like a professional and I know my game isn't good enough to call myself one.

That person seemed too obvious at first. I agree with you now though.

Let's not forget that there is a Super Pro among us.

I'm in the less than 10% group.

I work full time (and am debatably overpaid). Poker is a challenging hobby.

Outside the first 3 months I started playing online - I don't think I've logged a week of 40 hours or more playing time. I average somewhere in the 10-15 range.

Everytime I think about trying to play in a more dedicated fashion, other things come along to distract me.

I'm at the other end of this spectrum. I am (not debatedly at all) underpaid, so poker constitutes a significant portion of my income right now. I had a good run a few nights ago and made the equivalent of my week's salary in a four hour session. However, I can expect my employment income to triple in the next few years. As a result, I could continue winning the same amount at poker, but the % of total income figure would slip from 25% to less than 10%. I don't think either figure makes me more or less of a pro. I don't expect to deserve that title ever in my lifetime.
