I was testing some hands with http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_odds/texas_holdem.php#
odds calculator and it always gave TT 0,1% better odds against AKo than QQ. Is this really so, or is it just because "figures are the result of a Monte Carlo simulation (sampling from the deal of a few thousand random hands)"

Just wondering...

It is really so, because of a slightly increased chance of a straight.

TwoDimes is exact for Hold'em.

There are two factors acting in opposite directions.

/images/graemlins/diamond.gif TT wins with straights more frequently than QQ does. A queen is part of only 3 straights, but a ten is part of 5 straights.

/images/graemlins/diamond.gif QQ wins more frequently with two pair, e.g., on a board of JJTT5, QQ wins, but on a board of QQJJ5, TT loses. In addition, QQ wins more frequently with a full house, e.g., on a board of AQJJJ, QQ has an overboat, but on a board of AJJJT, TT has an underboat.

The former is more important, so TT wins more against AK than QQ wins against AK. Lower pairs than TT win less frequently because they are counterfeited more often.

This is the same reason that you want 77 or 66 more than you want KK, when playing against AA. There is less overlap in cards that help you and them. There are more straight possiblities and you really have all of your live outs
