No way in hell I'm calling down on this board. I made this exact calldown last night with 88 on a TT9 flop (turn was a 6 and river a 2) and got shown AJ. You will almost never win on this board by just calling, and even if he has KQ or KJ he has 10 outs.

So fold after flop bet?

In hindsight I did win the hand...got shown 55...but do others think this is a long-run losing play?

Yes. You're being result oriented.

more often than not, what can you beat. You will be drawing to two outs sooo many times its not funny. fold it on the flop and don't look back

if the flop were AAx with x being lower than your pp, maybe it could be up for debate, but any 20 or 21 hand beats you or has a pretty good percentage to beat you here, fold next time

If you're going to call the river, why not raise the turn? There's a good chance you'll get him to fold a better hand here and you can easily fold to a 3-bet and check the river unimproved.
