Hand #1: Why cap the flop? I would often just call after he bets into my pre-flop cap.

Hand #2: If you call this turn, you need to call the river IMO. (I.e. if you are this sure he has a 9/44, you didn't have the odds to draw to a T in the first place.)

Hand #3: Looks fine.

Hand 1: Dont cap flop, once I get to the river here also I usually dont fold for 1 more. Its close in this hand tho.

Hand 2: Fold turn or call river. At 5/10 I probably fold turn.

Hand 3 I probably call the river here too.

Thanks for the response guys. I am still a little fuzzy on these. 1st hand I capped to see if he was going to lead the turn maybe take a free one, just trying to get a better read. SB is a good player probable 2plus2. Was it you? Folded the river because I couldn't see him playing a draw that hard with just overs.

My first instinct was also to cap the flop in Hand 1, because if he then just checks to me on the turn I can get a showdown for just 1BB, plus maybe spiking a pair. But then I thought more about how much I really want a showdown UI v. the SB, who likely has at least a pair when he 3bets, and decided that I didn't really want a showdown UI after all.

For a while I was in a phase of raising for cheap showdowns and free cards, but lately I've been realizing that in some situations, a free card or cheap showdown will likely not improve my chances of winning the hand UI, and my chances of unimproving are too slim to draw to. I think realizing this, and calling the 3bet/folding the turn in situations like this hand instead of capping, has improved my game.
