Villan in this hand was very loose and reasonably agressive. I have seen him cap the flop out of position with a flush draw and undercards, but not otherwise get that out of line.

I think the bold part should sway your answer. You think if he's capable of capping semibluffs, he's not capable of bluffing a scare card? Sometimes I showdown just to see what cards they play and how they played, though I doubt you're ahead. Usually by the time I get to a river in a HU situation, I call with any kind of showdownable hand.
