i have a 2nd monitor that i surf during the 1st lvls.

but you can only surf so much.

i've tried to up it to 6 tabling, and lost my shirt (-$1000).

so what do u do to occupy your time during the 1st 3 levels?

Maybe if you are playing in sets you should try playing continuously.

4 tabling SNGs non-boredom guidebook:

Start 2 SNGs.
Download porn.
Run to kitchen to get paper towels (or get sock out of dirty laundry).
(depending on several factors, between 30 seconds and 15 minutes should have elapsed).
If close to 15 minutes have elapsed, start 2 more SNGs - this way youll start hitting the later (more important) levels on the first two while you're folding away on the newer two.

Rinse, repeat.

Yeah I like doing that too. Helps prevent being locked into four heads up ITM battles at once, too.

SNG's in general are the most exciting poker to me. I've mostly played low limit full-ring hold'em, and that unbelievably slow and dull compared to SNG's. So count yourself lucky; to me at least, every other kind of poker is much more boring. The only thing that comes close to the fun of SNG playing to me is 6-max or 5-max games.

not at all. this is when i am profiling the competition. early table play helps me peg and trap in later rounds.

People get on my case for implying about the needed privacy for running to the bathroom in between hands.

this is so much harder than 8-tabling...the adjustment required is insane when you're at all these different levels.

i'd say rent some movies..download some music...search 2+2...if your biggest problem is occupying your time while its slow, and still make $60+ an hour...your life is a good one.

They're absurdely boring indeed. What's even worst is that you need to pay attention to what's happening anyways to try to know the players a little bit better (or at least I do).

I cancelled the agreement, sent Xyeej $75 (no strings attached), and he sent me back my $75 two days later with a screen shot of his account history showing that he had turned that $75 into $550! I shoulda' backed him. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yeah that's the toughest part...knowing you should be watching the play & then not paying attention anyway. I think reading these forums is the best thing to do other than that. I just listen to music usually to help pass the time. Actually it's good when I am playing with my roommate(equal skill level or better), who will usually switch on and off & then we help each other out in certain situations.

I didn't cancel out of altruism and I have no problem with you commenting on the deal (I can't even remeber what you said about the deal, actually).

I backed out because Xyeej's cashier history didn't quite match his story. I think it was just an oversight on his part, but it made me nervous given that I only knew him through these boards. If the loan had been for $225 instead of $550, I probably would have gone through with it. $550 was too much for me to risk on someone whose account history didn't match their story.

That particular deal did favor me, the backer, quite a bit. However, I think Xyeej was just in a particular spot (high-school kid, needed money in a few days) where he was willing to give up a substantial part of his winnings to have access to some money to play with over Spring Break.

I may consider backing someone in the future, but, when it came down to nut-cutting time and I was about to transfer the money ... I can't deny feeling very nervous about never seeing my $550 again. The dread over a potential total loss has tempered the initial enthusiasm I had about backing (the enthusiasm stemming from the substantial gain a backer may get on his initial investment).

Anyhoo, I posted the deal here to get comments, so I have no problem with any of the negative comments that were posted.

No, I like early levels. When I'm in a hand it's more exciting than in later levels, and when I'm not in a hand I try to figure out what everyone has, which, if not always fun, at least makes me feel like I'm trying to improve.

[/ QUOTE ]Believe it or not, but I turned a free $20 PP sent me into, currently, $2002.53. I know it's hard to believe, but I played the $25 NL's until $100, then started the $10 SnGs. Got up to $300, and started the $20 GnG's. After a few wins taking it to $800 (more than a few /images/graemlins/smile.gif ), I started the $50 SnG's. 70% money record on those. Took it to $1.6k, and just won a $100 SnG. I'm amazed myself, but I will admit I was a bit risky in the roll management.
