Deleting HH after importing

Once I import to PT, can I delete the hand histories that are backed up on my computer? The file is getting large, and importing is taking longer and longer.

Stupid question, but how do you back them up?

I made a separate folder to move my hh's to after i'm done importing. I only keep my hh's though, not observed ones.
